THE DAY & WHAT TO EXPECT

If you are coming from Anchorage be prepared to get up early. It will take you about 1-1/2 hours to get to the tunnel entrance. It can be done faster, but I imagine you are not that familiar with the roads. Get your coffee at the hotel and head for Whittier via the Seward Highway. There is a coffee stop at Girdwood and a restroom. It is 1/2 hour from Girdwood to the tunnel. DON'T MISS THE TURN OFF TO WHITTIER!! The tunnel is open going into Whittier on the 1/2 hour (5:30am / 6.30am etc.) the tunnel is open for 15 minutes each opening cycle. Try to come through on the 6:30 am tunnel opening, prepared for a 7:15 am departure Please Be on time! If you have problems, call us (907) 315-1724. There is no cell phone service at the tunnel, but there is a pay telephone there. We will wait for you if you call. Go through the tunnel and proceed to our office. Our office is on the left at the first intersection that you come to in the Harbor Area. It is a Cedar Cabin with a Caribou antler for a door handle.See the Office photo  in our photo album. Please try to have your fishing licenses before you arrive. (see Link on our web site) Park your car in front of our office and we will give you a free parking pass. We can't provide free passes for Campers and RV's because they are not permitted to park in the harbor area. There is pay parking about 100 yds away.
Bring your *SMALL COOLER* with your lunch and drinks to the boat. At the boat have your fishing licenses ready to record in the ADFG log book. Remember we want to depart at 7:15 am. The captain will give you a safety briefing and we are off to the fishing grounds. Have your camera ready at all times as the opportunities for wild life photos requires you to be fast. We will travel about 2 to 2-1/2 hours to our best fishing areas. Relax eat some snacks, sleep, tell some stories and the time will go by fast. If we see Whales etc. we will stop for photos except when we are trying to make it to our fishing hole for a good fishing tide cycle. When we get to the fishing area be ready to fish. Listen to the captain and the deck hand. They will give you important pointers on what you should do. Relax and enjoy yourself. Some days the fishing is fast and furious. Some days it is slow and you will have to work hard to catch your fish. Depending on where we are fishing for the day, we will depart that location so that we will arrive back at the harbor around 5:30 pm. When we get to the harbor we will stop for fuel before we go to our slip. The fuel stop is next to our office. You can get off here and take your belongings to your vehicle and meet us at our slip for photos. While we are cleaning your catch (about 1 Hour)  Relax and enjoy that hour at THE SWIFTWATER CAFE for some  (GREAT HALIBUT FISH & CHIPS) or THE INN at WHITTIER (BEAUTIFUL HARBOR VIEW BAR). The deck hand will help you get your fish to the car or to the processor. Be sure to return the parking pass before you depart. The tunnel is open for 15 minutes on the hour outbound (7 pm. 8 pm etc.) the last opening is at 10 pm. Thanks for coming.
Tips are appreciated, but not required.

WEATHER: If we have to cancel the trip due to weather, we will refund you 100%. It is the Captains decision to go or not to go due to poor weather. He is responsible for your safety and we will never over-rule his decision. We want you to have a good time. On some marginal weather days we will go fishing, if we can get you safely to a good fishing location. The conditions may be a bit rough, but safe.

MECHANICAL: We will refund 100% if we can't depart. If you don't get to fish due to mechanical issues you will get a 100% refund. If you get to fish there will be no refund.

SUCCESS: There is no guarantee that you will catch fish. We will do everything within our power to find fish for you to catch. We have a very high success ratio, but there are those days, that the fish gods are on vacation. Prince William Sound is Alaska at it's best. Our trips offer more scenery and wild life viewing than any of the day tours.

Our trips are an Adventure with Memories to last a lifetime. Not just a trip to the fish market.
